I offer both virtual and in-person prenatal, postpartum and lactation education and support!

PRENATAL EDUCATION & SUPPORT (IN-PERSON & VIRTUAL):

  • Classes and postpartum planning sessions are tailored to fit your needs. I have a baby doll, knitted demo breast, bottle, diapers, swaddling cloths, etc. so I can demonstrate newborn care and feeding. Each class/session is about 90 minutes to 3 hours; 3-hour minimum required for in-person.

  • Prenatal lactation classes can include: first moments after birth; nursing in the early days; positions & latch; changing rhythms & routines; what partners can do to help; and pumping & bottle feeding. If you’re planning on formula feeding as well, I can provide information about safe formula preparation and paced bottle feeding.

  • Newborn care classes can include: soothing & crying; normal newborn sleep patterns and setting up healthy sleep habits; diapering; bathing & hygiene, red flags for newborns & birth parents; dressing babies; infant massage basics; baby carriers & tips for an easier postpartum experience. If you’re planning on formula feeding, I can provide information about safe formula preparation and paced bottle feeding.

  • Postpartum planning session: I can help you craft a personalized postpartum plan to help make your experience easier by thinking ahead.

In-PERSON POSTPARTUM & LACTATION SUPPORT:

  • Feeding support: Whether you’re nursing, bottle feeding or doing a combination, I can observe a feeding and make suggestions about ways you can adjust your body, bottle or baby. I can teach you the basics of nursing, help you understand normal feeding patterns and teach you how to recognize whether your baby is getting enough milk. If you’re feeding formula, I can provide information about safe formula preparation and paced bottle feeding.

  • Pumping: I can get you started with pump set up and use, provide guidance about storing milk, and help you come up with a pumping and bottle feeding routine, including a back to work plan.

  • Newborn care: I provide education and guidance on infant development and baby care, including soothing; bathing & hygiene; diapering; red flags for newborns; dressing babies; infant massage basics.

  • Baby wearing: I can support you in learning to use your baby carriers safely and comfortably. I can also bring my own baby carriers so you can try out a few different models before buying.

  • Sleep: I can provide information about normal newborn sleep patterns and how to set up healthy rhythms and routines for the whole family.

  • Self-care and postpartum recovery: I can provide information about healing from your vaginal or cesarean birth and provide additional information, resources and referrals.

  • Meal prep: I can make a meal and/or snacks for the whole family; pick up groceries; make recommendations for healthy meals/snacks; and/or prep foods from your favorite recipes.

  • Household help: I can do the laundry, load the dishwasher, do light housecleaning; hold your baby while you take a nap or a shower; and/or help with older siblings.

  • Home organization: I can assist with organizing your home and nursery to make life with a newborn easier and more efficient.

  • I have taken a “Comforting Touch for Postpartum Doulas” workshop and can offer a relaxing foot, neck, shoulder and/or back rub. (I am not a professional massage therapist— but I am always happy to provide referrals to a licensed massage therapist who can make a home visit for a professional massage.)

  • Referrals and resources: to organizations, businesses, medical providers, etc. for varied aspects of life with a new baby (many of whom are also navigating their way through this virtually!).

  • Whether I am working remotely or in person, I also offer a text support option that clients can add on weekly: During the hours of 9am-9pm, I will respond to your texts within about two hours. This option is great for those random questions that come up for new parents.

VIRTUAL POSTPARTUM & LACTATION SUPPORT:

  • Even if I can’t hold or soothe your baby, do a load of laundry, make you a meal, or give you a foot rub, we can get a lot done together in a video session! With virtual sessions, you can choose from many of the services of above. I have a baby doll at home, so I can demonstrate soothing, diapering, babywearing, and positioning for nursing and/or bottle feeding. Most virtual sessions are 1-2 hours.

  • Whether I am working remotely or in person, I also offer a text support option that clients can add on weekly: During the hours of 9am-9pm, I will respond to your texts within about two hours. This option is great for those random questions that come up for new parents.

COvid safety:

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I am adapting to last-minute changes with flexibility, security and everyone’s safety in mind. I am fully vaccinated, but will continue to use all precautions to prevent the spread of germs. For everyone's safety, I ask that you avoid having visitors in your home when I'm visiting. I am happy to discuss more specifics with you to come up with a plan that feels right for your family.
